Opinel Colorama 06 inox turquoise with strap is a folding outdoor knife with a Sandvik 12C27M stainless steel blade, Virobloc lock, and wooden handle with a strap for fastening.
Blade made of durable Scandinavian steel
The knife has a 70 mm blade made of modified Sandvik 12C27M stainless steel hardened to 57-58 HRC. Thanks to the addition of chromium, Swedish steel is corrosion resistant and requires no special maintenance. 12C27M is a pure, fine-grained alloy with a high carbon content (min. 0.40%) that is characterized by good abrasion resistance and satisfactory retention. Thanks to these parameters, the blade stays sharp for a long time, is resistant to corrosion and wear, and is easy to sharpen. The blade is unfolded with two hands using the nail cut-out.
Exotic blade profile
This model has a dagger-shaped blade. The designer was inspired by the traditional Turkish saber with its characteristic curved tip. The blade has a perfectly executed convex grind, which guarantees excellent cutting performance and ensures a long-lasting cutting edge. The side edges of the convex grind are rounded and run smoothly from the cutting edge to the back of the blade, which means that, compared to, for example, a concave grind, we can cut faster and more efficiently.
Wooden handle
The handle is made of French hornbeam wood with a varnish coating to protect it from dirt and moisture. The handle has a traditional oval profile that widens at the end, making the knife comfortable and secure to hold. A hole in the handle allows for a strap to be attached, making it easier to remove the knife from your pocket and to attach it to your equipment.
Virobloc lock
The knife is equipped with a Virobloc safety ring designed by Marcel Opinel in 1955. Virobloc has a steel structure and consists of two parts: a fixed (inner) part and a movable part that locks the blade in the open and closed position. The mechanism is easy to use, durable and reliable, which is why Opinel has been using it in almost the same form for over 65 years.
