Walther AFW is a large folding knife from the Adventure Folder Wood series, created for outdoor enthusiasts and people looking for affordable tools made of good quality materials.
Walther AFW has a unique design that effectively combines modernity, classic style and great functionality.
Weather-resistant steel
The 102 mm long blade is made of Japanese AUS 8 stainless steel. The properties of this steel are similar to 440C (including increased carbon content), thanks to which it is hardened to a hardness of 57-59 HRC. Wear and corrosion resistance, good retention (sharpness retention) and sharpening speed make the AUS-8 steel knife perfect for outdoor conditions and everyday use. We do not need an advanced sharpener to sharpen AUS-8 steel, a universal tourist sharpener, e.g. Lansky BladeMedic, is sufficient. The blade is finished with a satin finish (polishing) which eliminates light reflections and gives it a classic look. The long blade with a functional clip-point profile has a high hollow grind, a robust tip and a cutting edge with a gentle curvature of the belly, which gives the knife good cutting properties and high penetration.
Easy blade deployment
The Walther AFW allows you to unfold the blade in two different ways. The first method involves using two hands and is done by lifting the blade with your fingernail in a specially cut milling cutter. This classic solution has been used for decades, for example in pocket knives, and allows it to be legally carried in most EU countries. The second method allows the knife to be opened with one hand by using the thumb to lever up the two-sided catch on the back (modified thumb disc). The choice of method depends, of course, on the individual preferences of the user, but it is worth emphasizing that they are convenient for both right- and left-handed users.
A strong lock for safety at work
When the blade is open, it is locked with a back-lock mechanism. When the blade is open, the lock on the back of the knife falls into the notch on the back of the blade. To release the locking mechanism, press the bar visible in the handle notch.
Wooden handle made of high-quality materials
The knife has elegant walnut wood covers with a matte finish. The covers have a contoured shape with a distinct finger cut-out, which effectively improves the grip and comfort of use.
The knife handle is reinforced with full steel liners (inserts to which the linings are attached). We can use a leather case on a belt (with a press stud fastener) and a high-set steel clip (one-sided) to carry the knife.
